2009 Practice Courts

Practice Courts - Friday, August 7th
• Berkeley Tennis Club: Practice courts will be available in one-hour blocks at Berkeley Tennis Club on Friday, August 7th from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Players may sign up for practice courts IN PERSON in the Tournament Headquarters’ Room at Berkeley Tennis Club beginning at 11:30 am on Friday, August 7th.  No telephone reservations will be taken.  If the courts are impacted, players will be scheduled four to a court. 
• Claremont Resort & Spa:  Players who are staying at the Claremont Resort & Spa can make arrangements for court time at the hotel; however there may be a usage fee.

Practice Courts - Registration Day, August 8th
• Berkeley Tennis Club & Claremont Resort & Spa:  Practice courts will be available in one-hour blocks at Berkeley Tennis Club and the Claremont Resort & Spa on Saturday, August 8th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Players may sign up for practice courts IN PERSON in the Tournament Headquarters’ Room at Berkeley Tennis Club beginning at 11:30 am to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 7th and beginning at 7:30 am on Saturday, August 8th.  No telephone reservations will be taken.  If the courts are impacted, players will be scheduled four to a court.  Practice times end promptly at 5:00 pm on Saturday, the time at which the mandatory players’ meeting begins.
**Guests of the hotel may also be able to reserve one of the courts not designated as tournament practice courts contacting the hotel front desk; however there may be a usage fee.

Practice Courts - Tournament Week, August 9th-16th
• Berkeley Tennis Club:  There will be no practice courts available while play is in progress at the Berkeley Tennis Club during the first four days of play (Sunday-Wednesday); however players may be able to get practice time before morning matches are scheduled.  Beginning on Thursday, some practice time will be available, depending on the schedule of match play.  Players must receive approval from the Referee before using an open court for practice.
• Claremont Resort & Spa:  There will be no practice courts available while play is in progress at the Claremont Resort & Spa during the first four days of play (Sunday-Wednesday).  Beginning at approximately 11:00 am Thursday through Saturday, four courts have been designated as tournament practice courts. .  No reservations are needed to use these courts.
**Guests of the hotel may also be able to reserve one of the courts not designated as tournament practice courts contacting the hotel front desk; however there may be a usage fee.
• Chabot Canyon Racquet Club: Practice courts are available BY RESERVATION ONLY at Chabot Canyon Racquet Club on the following days:
Sunday, August 9th: 11:00 am to 5:30 pm
Monday, August 10th to Thursday, August 13: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Friday, August 14: 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Reservations may be made IN PERSON in the Tournament Headquarters’ Room at the Berkeley Tennis Club.  If the courts are impacted, players will be scheduled four to a court.
Maps to the practice courts at Chabot will be available in the Tournament Headquarters’ Room; however tournament transportation will be available to and from Chabot and we highly recommend its use - click here to read more information on transportation.  Practice Court Rules below govern use of all practice courts.
• UC Berkeley:  Practice courts are available at UC Berkeley as follows:
Hellman Tennis Complex (6 courts): 8:00 am 7:00 pm on August 8-9 and 12-14
Channing Courts 1-4: 8:00 am to 7:00 pm on August 11th
Maps to the practice courts at UC Berkeley will be available in the Tournament Headquarters’ Room. Parking is limited and it is recommended that tournament transportation be used to and from the UC Berkeley - click here to read more information on transportation.  Practice Court Rules below govern use of all practice courts at UC Berkeley.
• Bentley School:  Practice courts are available at Bentley School each day.  Maps to the practice courts at Bentley School will be available in the Tournament Headquarters’ Room.  Parking is free and the tournament shuttle does not go to this site.Practice Court Rules below govern use of all practice courts.

Practice Court Rules During Tournament Week:
No tournament official will be monitoring practice courts and the following rules shall govern the use of these courts. 
1. Up to two practice courts at UC Berkeley may be reserved for an official hitting pro of the tournament.  Players will be asked to vacate the reserved court for a scheduled hitting appointment.
2. Courts are available on a first come, first served basis; except that reservations are required at Chabot Canyon Racquet Club. Reservations may be made in Tournament Headquarters’ Room.
3. Courts are available on a first come, first served basis.
4. During high demand times, courts are to have four “Tournament Players” to a court.  Coaches, parents, players not in the singles or doubles draw, and other tournament guests are NOT considered “Tournament Players.”
5. Courts are available in half-hour blocks.  Please surrender your court if you have had use of it for a full half hour and players are waiting to get on.
6. Please be courteous to other players, parents, and coaches.  Unsportsmanlike conduct should be reported and is subject to penalty under the USTA Suspension Point System.
