Maureen Connolly Brinker Award
In 1969, the Maureen Connolly Brinker Foundation began this award to recognize the most outstanding full season performance by a junior girl in the United States.  The honor encompasses not only performance, but sportsmanship as well.  The Nationals is honored with being the tournament at which this player is selected and recognized.  Click here to read more about Maureen Connolly Brinker, the award recipients, and the foundation.

Chairman’s Award
After seeing the wonderful play and sportsmanship of the participants in the 1990 tournament, I realized that one sportsmanship award was not enough for a tournament of this calibre. In 1991 I presented the idea of a "Chris Evert Sportsmanship Award" to the USTA Junior Competition Commitee. Although well received when presented to the Awards Committee, the USTA by-laws prohibit the creation of any new signature awards. As chairman of the Nationals at AVAC, I have strong feeleings that we should recognize someone who possesses the ideals in sportsmanship, appearance, dress, court manners, and tactics similar to those attributes which Chris Evert displayed. Thus, the creation of the "Chairman's Award" which will be a solid gold bracelet presented annually to the girl who best exemplifies sportsmanship and character in her game during the Nationals at AVAC.
