2008 Court Monitor Information

We need your help this year as a Court Monitor for the Nationals - it’s a great experience and it is not often you can view such high level tennis so close to the action!

The dates for this year’s tournament are August 3rd through August 10th, but Court Monitors are only needed through Thursday, August 7th.  Positions are open for shifts at both Berkeley Tennis Club/Claremont Resort & Spa and UC Berkeley.  Please review the information below and if you are able volunteer, follow the steps below under Volunteer Now!

Tournament Dates & Shifts:

Sunday, August 3 and Monday, August 4 at BTC/Claremont:
8:15 am to 12:15 pm
9:45 am to 1:15 pm
12:00 pm to 3:30 pm
1:00 pm to 4:15 pm
3:15 pm to end (approx. 6:30 pm)
4:00 pm to end (approx. 7:30 pm)

UC Berkeley Shifts:
7:45 am to 11:45 am
11:30 am to 2:45 pm
3:00 pm to end (approx. 6:30 pm)

Wednesday, August 5 at BTC/Claremont:
8:15 am to 12:15 pm
12:00 pm to 3:30 pm
3:15 pm to end (approx. 6:30 pm)

Thursday, August 6 at BTC/Claremont:
8:45 am to 12:15 pm
12:00 am to 3:00 pm
2:45 pm to end (approx. 6:30 pm)

Court Monitor Training:
There will be a training session lead by Tournament Referee, Chris Preston, and Rich Green, Volunteer Officials Chair, at Berkeley Tennis Club on Tuesday, July 29th from 7:00 to approximately 8:15 pm.  Attendance is highly encouraged as the information you need is better communicated during the presentation than when only reviewing the written instructions.

Uniform:
Court Monitors will wear the official tournament t-shirt and hat to be provided.  Be sure to mark your t-shirt size on the Volunteer Sign-Up form – the shirts are men’s 100% cotton t-shirts.  Be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen!

Nationals Welcome Dinner:
All Nationals Volunteers are invited to attend the Welcome Dinner on Saturday, August 4th.  The dinner will at approximately 6:00 pm, immediately after the player meeting and photograph that begins at 5:00 pm.  Rich Green will be there to hand out tournament t-shirts to any Court Monitors in attendance.
