You will receive confirmation of registration by email. A receipt for your records will be in your packet at the Forum. All checks should be made payable to National Tennis Championships.
Private Appointments:
At the request of coaches who have participated in the past, we will be making available options for you to conduct private appointments. Because we now have a more comfortable and spacious indoor location for our Forum at The Claremont Resort & Spa, these options differ from those available in the past. We offer two options as follows:
- Option to conduct private appointments at your table prior to the Forum, between 9:00 am and 11:00 am.
- Option to conduct private appointments during the Forum hours. This includes either exclusively conducting private appointments or a combination of drop-in and private appointments. If you choose to conduct appointments during the Forum hours, you will be given a sign that reads "PRIVATE APPOINTMENTS ONLY" to display. We will also make an attempt not to locate your table near schools that are only conducting drop in appointments during the Forum hours. We recommend that if you wish to conduct private appointments during the Forum hours that you purchase a 6' table seated alone.
You may opt for one or both of these options, or none at all. If you wish to conduct private appointments, please check the appropriate box(es) on the Registration Form.
Player Bio Book:
Once again we will be assembling a Player Bio Book for coaches. All players are being asked, on a voluntary basis, to submit a Player Bio to be included in the book. The Player Bio will include a photograph, contact information, birth date, high school, graduation date, GPA, SAT/ACT Scores, NCAA Clearinghouse Number (if available), rankings, and academic areas of interest. The Player Bio Book will also include a Player List with updates made at Registration. The cost to coaches participating in the Forum will be $15.00 per copy and it will be distributed on the first day of the tournament, Sunday, August 3rd, after 2:00 pm.
Non-participating coaches may purchase a Player Bio Book for $40.00. Click here to download the Order Form. Note that this Form should only be used by coaches who are NOT registering for the College Coaches' Forum.
Claremont Resort & Spa - Sponsor Hotel:
Please click on the link above to be taken to information on reservations at the Claremont Resort & Spa. We recommend you consider The Claremont as it is our official hotel of the College Coaches' Forum and the locale of the USTA-hosted reception.
American Airlines and AVIS Rental Discounts:
Please click on the link above to be taken to information on discounts offered to the tournament guests by American Airlines and AVIS.
Transportation During Tournament:
Due to limited parking, most of which is not free, The Nationals will be offering transportation to and from the Oakland International Airport as well as between the tournament main site (Berkeley Tennis Club and the adjacent Claremont Resort & Spa) and the offsite (UC Berkeley). If you would like to take advantage of our transportation and avoid the need for a rental car, please make a request as described on our Transportation page.
USTA Varsity Coach Reception at The Claremont Resort & Spa:
The USTA will be holding a welcome reception at our sponsor hotel, The Claremont Resort & Spa, on Saturday, August 2nd from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Your hosts will be Timon Corwin, Senior Director - Junior & Collegiate Competition, and Glenn Arrington, National Manager - Collegiate & Corporate Tennis. Please RSVP to the reception on the Reservation Form; however registration in the Forum is not required to attend the reception. If you would like to attend the reception, but not the Forum, please email Andrea Norman at AndreaN64@aol.com.
Restrictions on Recruitment Activities:
In the interest of supporting compliance with NCAA rules and the Forum being organized by our tournament volunteers, pre-tournament recruitment activities may not take place at Berkeley Tennis Club and the public areas of the Claremont Resort & Spa during the Forum hours on Saturday.
We sincerely believe that our efforts to meet the recruiting needs of both players and coaches are best met by attending the Forum. Should you desire to conduct recruiting on registration day during the Forum, but not participate in the Forum, we ask you to make arrangements to do so at another site.
Recruitment may take place with players at Berkeley Tennis Club and the Claremont Resort & Spa after they have been eliminated from the tournament.
Signage:
A display sign with the name of your institution will be at your table. You will also receive a nametag, as will all the players who participate in the forum. You may bring your own signage and banners; however, these may only be displayed on your table. Nothing may be affixed to the ballroom walls.
Information Packet & Player List:
When you check in at the Forum, you will receive a packet containing player lists, draw sheets, local maps, and coupons for local restaurants. Updated draw sheets will be available daily in the Headquarters' Room and will also be available on the website. The player list will include addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, birth dates, National Rankings, and graduation years (if provided by the player).
Non-participating coaches may purchase the list as part of the Player Bio Book for $40.00. Click here to download the Order Form. Note that this Form should only be used by coaches who are NOT registering for the College Coaches' Forum.
Lunch:
A boxed lunch will be served in the ballrooms during the Forum to all coaches in attendance. A place for selecting a sandwich preference is on the Registration Form.
Pre-Tournament Information:
All colleges participating in the Forum will be listed on the website on the College Coaches' Forum page and the location of your institution will be marked on a national map.
We are asking for you to provide your email address and website for your school for posting on our website. With you permission, we will be creating links to your email and your school's website. See the Registration Form for providing this information.
A list of players in the tournament as well as alternates will be available on or about July 16th on the USTA TennisLink Home Page. Profiles completed at the option of the players can also be found on this website on the Player Profiles page. These profiles are primarily used for publicity purposes, but you may find them useful for recruiting.
NCAA Rules:
The tournament is aware that NCAA rules govern the recruitment process. Although we are not responsible for enforcing these rules, we are taking the following steps to promote compliance:
- The Forum is being held at a site other than the host facility for The Nationals.
- Only the girls that have represented to us that they have not yet signed a letter of intent with another college and have completed their junior year of high school will be allowed to enter the Forum.
- At the tournament registration desk, players are asked to finish their participation in the College Coaches' Forum before registering for The Nationals and commencing participation in the event. Additionally, all tournament materials will emphasize the importance of attending the Forum prior to registering.
Request for T-Shirts:
During the tournament, we once again anticipate children from groups in the Berkeley and Oakland areas to visit The Nationals to learn about the game of tennis, observe play and meet the players. Each child will receive a t-shirt. We ask that each school participating in the forum, if possible, donate t-shirts for this event. Please indicate the number of t-shirts you are able to donate on your Registration Form. Donations may be dropped off when you check in at the Forum.
